KnowledgePool working with CIPD to develop multimedia training programmes

3 April 2001

Ever envied those who can make good decisions calmly and quickly under pressure?

An e-Learning programme produced in association with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) was launched today at HRD 2001, the industry flagship event in London. Designed and developed by KnowledgePool, the IT, personal and business skills training company, 'Decision Making and Problem Solving' is the first of a series of CDROM training courses developed from the successful range of CIPD books, Management Shapers and underpins the CPID strategy of endorsing the use of technology for training delivery

CIPD research due to be published at HRD 2001 shows that the use of technology for training staff is increasing rapidly and that of the 67% of companies using e-Learning half of them use it to deliver communications skills. The step-by-step, interactive, multimedia programme includes audio and video and examines the skills that are key to making effective decisions and solving problems. Insights and suggestions from industry leaders complement guided activities, which will equip individuals with a framework for employing these skills more effectively at work. Skills covered include utilising a 5 stage model for decision making, overcoming mental obstacles and using techniques to stimulate creative problem solving.

Judith Dennett, head of publishing at the CIPD said, " We are pleased to be working with KnowledgePool on this initiative, and hope to be releasing further CDROM courses in the series in the near future. KnowledgePool's design capability and the interactivity has brought an exciting extra dimension to our publication."

The programme, licensed for multiple use by organisations at a one-time cost of £499 is designed to cover the skills and knowledge relevant to the Management Charter Initiative, Investors in People Indicators and the Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative (full details provided in the CDROM.)
